By applying to and participating in the Storymuse Affiliate Program (“the Program”), you (“Affiliate”, “you”, “your”) agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms & Conditions. These terms govern your participation as an affiliate of Storymuse (“Storymuse”, “we”, “our”, “us”).
If you do not agree to these terms, please do not apply for or participate in the Program.
1. Affiliate Program Overview
The Storymuse Affiliate Program allows approved affiliates to earn commission by promoting Storymuse digital products, including but not limited to website templates and design-related digital downloads, using a unique referral link provided after approval.
Affiliates may link to any eligible product within the Storymuse shop using their assigned referral link.
2. Commission Structure
- Affiliates earn 15% commission on qualifying sales.
- Commission is calculated on the net sale amount, excluding VAT, taxes, refunds, chargebacks, and discounts.
- Commission applies to digital products only. Custom services, 1:1 design work, or other offers may be excluded at Storymuse’s discretion.
- Storymuse reserves the right to amend commission rates or eligibility with reasonable notice.
3. Referral Tracking & Cookie Duration
- Each affiliate is provided with a unique referral link for tracking purposes.
- Referral cookies are valid for 60 days from the customer’s initial click.
- If a customer completes a purchase within this 60-day period, the sale will be attributed to the affiliate.
- Storymuse is not responsible for tracking failures caused by cookie deletion, browser settings, device changes, or ad-blocking software.
4. Payouts
- Commission becomes payable once the applicable refund period has passed.
- Payouts are processed on a monthly basis, subject to a minimum payout threshold of $50.
- Payments are made via PayPal
- Affiliates are responsible for ensuring payment details are accurate and current.
5. Refunds & Chargebacks
- Any sale that is refunded, cancelled, or charged back will not qualify for commission.
- If commission has already been paid on a refunded sale, Storymuse reserves the right to deduct the amount from future payouts.
6. Approved Promotional Methods
Affiliates may promote Storymuse through:
- Websites and blogs
- Email newsletters
- Social media platforms
- Educational, editorial, or review-based content
All promotions must be truthful, accurate, and not misleading.
7. Advertising Standards & Legal Compliance
Affiliates must comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
- The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)
- The CAP Code
- The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Clearly disclosing the affiliate relationship in all promotional content (e.g. “This post contains affiliate links” or “Ad / Affiliate”)
- Ensuring disclosures are clear, upfront, and easily visible
- Avoiding exaggerated, false, or unsubstantiated claims
- Not presenting affiliate content as independent or impartial when a commercial relationship exists
Affiliates are solely responsible for ensuring their promotions comply with these requirements.
8. Brand Protection & Acceptable Promotion
Affiliate promotion must align with the Storymuse brand values and must not:
- Harm, dilute, or damage the Storymuse brand or reputation
- Misrepresent Storymuse products, pricing, or positioning
- Use aggressive, misleading, or deceptive marketing tactics
- Associate Storymuse with offensive, unlawful, or inappropriate content
Storymuse reserves the right to request the removal or modification of any affiliate content that is deemed harmful or misaligned with the brand.
The Storymuse name, brand, trademarks (registered or unregistered), logos, and all associated brand identifiers are the exclusive intellectual property of Storymuse. Affiliates are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to reference the Storymuse name solely for the purpose of approved affiliate promotion. Affiliates may not register, claim ownership of, or use the Storymuse name or any confusingly similar variation in business names, domains, social media handles, advertising, or branding materials. Any unauthorised use may result in immediate termination from the Affiliate Program.
9. Prohibited Activities
The following are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate termination:
- Self-referrals (purchasing through your own affiliate link)
- Spamming or unsolicited promotions
- Paid advertising using Storymuse brand terms or variations (e.g. “Storymuse”, “Storymuse templates”)
- Promotion via coupon, deal, or discount websites without written approval
- False claims, guarantees, or misleading statements
- Any activity that violates UK law or advertising standards
10. Intellectual Property & Brand Assets
- Affiliates may use approved Storymuse logos and assets solely for promotional purposes.
- Brand assets may not be altered or used in a misleading or damaging manner.
- All intellectual property rights remain the property of Storymuse.
11. Affiliate Approval & Termination
- Storymuse reserves the right to approve or reject affiliate applications at its discretion.
- We may suspend or terminate participation at any time if these terms are breached or if affiliate activity is deemed harmful to the brand.
- Upon termination, unpaid commissions may be withheld or forfeited.
12. Taxes
Affiliates are responsible for declaring and paying any taxes due on commissions earned. Storymuse does not provide tax advice and will not withhold taxes unless legally required.
13. Limitation of Liability
Storymuse makes no guarantees regarding earnings or performance and shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from participation in the Program.
14. Modifications to the Program
Storymuse reserves the right to amend or discontinue the Affiliate Program or these Terms & Conditions at any time. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any updates.
15. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
